ABOUT Kronic
Kronic / Synthetic THC
Kronic is a Synthetic THC product currently being sold legally in some states of Australia and New Zealand. Kronic contains a leafy green material (usually Damiana) adulterated with one or more compounds that convey similar pharmacological properties as does Delta9-Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the primary psychoactive constituent of marijuana. Compounds which appear to be highly popular are the ones known as CP-47,497 and JWH-018. Currently Kronic and other brands (Spice, Northern Lights, K2) are in the process of being classified as illegal under the Poisons Act of 1964 in Australia.
Kronic is currently now illegal in WA, NSW and in process of being banned in TAS and SA.
The creator of the most used synthetic THC's, John W. Huffman, has previously stated his concern for the misuse of these compounds. In late 2000's he was quoted as saying, "... I'm concerned that it could hurt people... I think this was something that was more or less inevitable. It bothers me that people are so stupid as to use this stuff.."
Kronic does not cause a positive drug test for cannabis or other illegal drugs, but can be dectected in a lab test due to metabolites in the urine that conjulates with glucuronic acid. ADS is currently offering OH&S management and workplace education of Synthetic THC's as well as laboratory confirmation testing.
